Audi A4 - best executive cars

The A4 is one of Audi's most important cars, competing in the cut-throat compact executive market. Thankfully, it really hits the mark, and offers some of the best technology and quality in this class.

For the latest A4, Audi concentrated on improving the driving dynamics of the car, making for a relaxing and comfortable drive - although it's not as pin-sharp as the best in the sector. The engines are exceptional, too - powerful and punchy, but very efficient - there's a company car-tax-busting sub-100g/km diesel, as well as some more rip-snorting choices if you fancy a bit of fun.

Audi interiors are typically brilliant, and the A4's is no exception. Quality is exceptional, and it's packed full of great tech - like the 12-inch 'Virtual Cockpit' LCD dials and gauges. It's decently spacious, too, and if the saloon's 480-litre boot isn't enough for you, there's an Avant Estate.

The A4 may be a bit dull to look at, and can easily get expensive if you peruse the options list - but it's a fine executive car and well worth considering.
