Citroen C3

The oldest of Citroen'Â’s three small cars, the C3 was responsible for kick-starting the firm'Â’s design renaissance. The good news is you really rate the low running costs. The curvy five-door scores well for fuel consumption and servicing costs. But it'Â’s far from the perfect supermini –– the handling is below par, while practicality could be better. However, the lowest mark came in the build quality category (85th). Citroen needs to improve the way the C3 is built before it can hope to compete with the best in class.

Your Quotes

“Nice and economical to run. The materials used inside feel cheap, though. And there are too many creaks and rattles after four-and-a-half years and 70,000 miles.”

Mr Jimmy Li - West Midlands

“This car is very reliable and I have had no problems with it at all.”

Mrs Joy Allman - Stafford

“Stylish small family hatchback and cheap.”

Michael Combeer - West Midlands

“Good car for its class and cost.”

Mr Stewart Glass - Staffs

“Looks different, handles well and has surprised me. Love driving it, dashboard looks like its stuck together with some left-over chewing gum!”

Mr Robert Wilcox - Worcestershire

“The car is good value for money compared with others in it's class, but build quality is shoddy and dealership do not care once they have their money. With hindsight I wish I'd spent a little bit extra and bought a Toyota Yaris.”

Barbara Woodward - Staffs

“One of the better cars that I’ve owned. Good brakes, ride, petrol consumption. The car’s 14 months old and only has 4,000 miles on the clock. Also, the door pillars are rather thick, but you get used to that.”

Mr Terence Trollope - London

MANUFACTURER VERDICT

Wow! CitroenÂ’'s in seventh heaven. While 23rd overall is hardly cause for celebration, a jump of seven places is a huge step in the right direction for the firm that found itself only seven steps from last place in 2006. Focusing its attention back on to producing design-led models that are genuinely desirable, it looks like things are on the up. However, thereÂ’'s still a long way to go...
