Citroen C4

On the one hand, this is a good result. The C4'Â’s predecessor, the Xsara, has been one of the worst performers in our Driver Power surveys, regularly finishing in the bottom 20. The C4 is a vast improvement, and deserves its place in the middle of the top 100. But look beyond the overall ranking, and Citroen still has work to do. For such a new car, 84th in the reliability chart is dismal, as is 87th for build. Also, a sizeable 17 per cent of owners said the C4 had failed to live up to expectations.

Your Quotes

“Wins awards for looking good, but I would rather Citroen had put the effort into making the internal plastics fit together properly and stay together.”

Mr Douglas Leith - Aberdeenshire

“A splendid vehicle ruined by a couple of items.”

Kate Taylor - West Yorkshire

“Wins awards for looking good, but I'd rather they'd put the effort into making the internal plastic fit together properly and stay together.”

Mr Douglas Leith - Newburgh

“Very good car, practical but looks brilliant as well, very economical but with a good deal of performance.”

Mr Graham Thompson – County Antrim

“It is fun to drive with enough power for my needs from its 2.0 HDi diesel engine. Economy is excellent also the road tax works out relatively cheap. Overall I enjoy driving it and have been known to go the long way round home.”

Mr Roger Butler – West Mids

“Excellent features, value for money, practical with very good use of space, very good performance and handling, looks good and a bit different too! Lots of very useful aids to driving - auto lights, wipers, speed limiter, climate control etc.”

MANUFACTURER VERDICT

Wow! Citroen'Â’s in seventh heaven. While 23rd overall is hardly cause for celebration, a jump of seven places is a huge step in the right direction for the firm that found itself only seven steps from last place in 2006. Focusing its attention back on to producing design-led models that are genuinely desirable, it looks like things are on the up. However, thereÂ’'s still a long way to go...
