Honda CR-V

It's just been replaced, but that hasn'Â’t stopped the CR-V from posting some impressive results. A top five finish in the reliability rank is a credit to the 4x4Â’'s durability and 17th for build quality is also a strong finish. Despite this, the Honda has dropped 22 places down the chart this year. You are getting tired of the sloppy handling and weak brakes and also dislike the hefty running costs. If it can improve on these areas, the next-generation CR-V should feature much higher next year.

Your Quotes

“Better than the sum of its parts, and very satisfying to drive. But fuel economy falls woefully short of the claimed figure. I would go for a diesel engine next time.”

Mr Mark Galbraith - Essex

“The car is everything I want apart from slightly high fuel consumption around town. Practical, roomy, well screwed together and extremely reliable. The only fault has been a squeaky clutch pedal, repaired under warranty. Honda servicing costs are a little on the high side, but the service is very good, as is the follow up.”

Mr Richard Constant - Wales

“Spacious, decent performer, a bit noisy, desperately needs cruise control and the diesel engine. Middle rear Seat belt is a pain. Headlights have both had water in them, and the navigation unit packed up after 10,000 miles.”

Mr Chris Vowles - Coventry

“Very reliable and a pleasure to drive. Very practical.”

Mr Chris Lowe - Suffolk

“It is very robust and well made. The ride quality is good even over long distances. It is very practical and has excellent luggage carrying capabilities. The only design fault is the middle rear seat belt which is poorly located.”

Mr Marc Levine - London

“On one occasion only, l lost power temporarily. Fault rectified itself - no dealer attention. I understand there is a known fault with the Honda diesel engine.”

Mr John O’Shaugnnessy - Wakefield

MANUFACTURER VERDICT

It hasn'Â’t been a vintage Driver Power year for Honda, as its best models have slipped down a few rungs in the top 100. But the firm has managed to hold on to its bronze medal position. Buyers can still expect first-class motoring, no matter which model they choose. Interestingly, the car makerÂ’'s strongest suit was reliability, and Honda didnÂ’'t finish lower than 11th in any one of the 10 categories.
