If Saab wants to be considered a genuine rival to the likes of BMW, Audi and Mercedes, it has to come up with something better than the current 9-3.

Aptly ranked in 93rd position, the Swede’s reliability and build quality aren’t up to scratch. And while 9-3 drivers rate the comfort, 90th for handling suggests Saab’s engineers need to sort out the driving dynamics.

MANUFACTURER VERDICT

It’s finished ahead of Ford, but Saab has dropped four places. The fact its range was voted 31st out of 35 for running costs suggests the impact of the firm’s frugal Biopower model line-up is minimal.
