That the Bravo is well beaten by the sharp new Kia Cee’d shows just how competitive the compact family car market has become.

Scan through the Bravo’s results and there are enticingly low running costs, strong performance and a sound reliability record. But it’s let down on comfort and ease of driving – disappointing for a family hatch.

MANUFACTURER VERDICT

As Alfa falls, owner Fiat has jumped six places in the manufacturer chart. Although the 500 debuted in a disappointing 86th in the Top 100, it has still helped to lift the Italians’ overall average.
