With improvements to the brakes, chassis and suspension, the Megane is transformed. And relatively simple changes to the steering system have resulted in much better feel through the wheel, delivering a far greater sense of control. While the stiffer suspension front and rear makes the Renault harsh over bumpy surfaces, the benefits come when cornering.
The Trophy turns in sharply and is far more fun to drive than the standard model. But there is a £500 premium over the normal 225, and sadly, only 160 examples will be sold in the UK - a shame, because this hot Megane is challenging for class honours.
