Looks much bigger than the boot that was in the Mk1/2 Focus to me... You're complaining about an option making the boot smaller, but how big is it without the optional full-sized spare that most cars do not carry anymore? Maybe you should have opted out of the spare and spent the money replacing that monstrosity of a giant push-chair with something more sensible sized like any of these

or asked for an estate
Given that the Astra has a 370 litre boot and the Golf has 350 litres, then the Focus having just 277 is a serious flaw!
The full size spare won't take up more space as such, it's just that it's cheaper for the manufacturer's to include a space saver or a can of shaving foam.
And that's apart from those hideous 90s Kia looks...

Come on AE, I know its out of character but a little bit of research wouldn't go amiss. Boot space, not such an issue without full size spare at 316ltrs (and there is always the estate at 476ltrs) and the Sony system that you are so impressed with is a Ford Navigation system, not a Sony. If this car had a VAG badge you would be raving about it!!
