Brand gets new emblem (left) as part of fresh start in the UK
26th March 2007
The brand is set to return to the UK market late next year after an absence of 14 years with its all-new premium family hatchback - the Delta - which will wear the revised badge. Its blue and silver emblem is a simplified version of the existing design, which dates from 1911.
In 1929, the famous steering wheel badge was revised to incorporate a shield surround, and this is retained in the updated logo.
The new Delta marks a fresh start for the marque in Britain, and every subsequent addition to the line-up will join it in showrooms here. Its platform is shared with Fiat's latest Bravo, and it will offer a range of petrol and turbocharged diesel engines. Power outputs will range from 120bhp to more than 200bhp. In an attempt to raise its profile with potential customers, the rejuvenated brand is also planning to open a network of Lancia-themed cafés across Europe. Bosses have already established a line-up of accessories and merchandise under the Lancia Boutique banner.
