A team of designers is aiming to eliminate driving blindspots with a clever new system of tiny cameras which are mounted on to vehicle bumpers and wing mirrors

Network of tiny cameras relays blindspot information to driver in order to help prevention of accidents

30th April 2007

They say the cameras can keep tabs on what is going on in the road ahead, at the side or behind a vehicle, banishing minor scrapes for ever. The manufacturer, London-based Tracknav, originally designed the system for use on trucks and vans, but has now adapted it for cars. It claims it is ideal for large motors such as 4x4s and SUVs. Images are sent to a 2.5-inch screen that can be fixed on to the dashboard. The driver is able to flick between views depending on the manoeuvre being carried out.

Systems start at £240 for a side camera, rising to £299 for a reversing lens. Visit www.track-nav.co.uk for further information.
