New duo join Internet battle

Finding your next second-hand car has just got even easier, thanks to a pair of helpful new websites

30th April 2007

First up is a nationwide classifieds service with a difference. Launched last week, www.motors.co.uk takes the hassle out of used car buying by carrying out free Experian data checks on vehicles sold via its site.

The company already lists more than 200,000 models from private sellers and trade vendors, and buyers also get a vehicle valuation thrown in, so they know if they’re paying over the odds.

A spokesman told Auto Express: “Our site is all about giving consumers the knowledge, information and support they need. Not only does this help them secure the best deal for themselves, it also provides them with the reassurance that the vehicles they’re purchasing are legitimate and fairly priced.”

However, this isn’t the only new entrant into an arena previously dominated by the likes of Auto Trader and Exchange & Mart – there is another new arrival north of the border. Smartycars.com has been set up to unite buyers and sellers in Scotland, and it already has at least 30 dealers on its books.

The Internet-based outlet says it could even grow to include listings from across the UK if it becomes a hit. For more details, log on to the www.smartycars.com site.
