Subtle styling tweaks and more power for 2008 model year Corvette
05th May 2007
The 2008 model has a new 6.2-litre V8 which produces 424bhp - an increase of 20bhp over the current car. The rear-wheel drive coupé can go from 0-60mph in 4.3 seconds and on to 190mph.
Buyers will be able to opt for a new two-mode exhaust, which can boost power by a further six bhp. It incorporates a valve that shuts at low engine speeds to reduce noise while cruising, but opens under hard acceleration for maximum performance.
The larger engine is accompanied by tweaks to both the manual and automatic transmissions, as well as changes to the steering to make it more responsive. There are minor external revisions, while inside buyers get satellite radio, and keyless entry. Cars without sat-nav, meanwhile, now come with an MP3 player input as standard. The revised Corvette is likely to hit UK showrooms later this year. Prices have yet to be confirmed, but could rise above the £47,465 of the current car to reflect the changes.
