Bridge tolls to be axed, child seats and a poll on green parking

TOLLS cause traffic jams and pollution, says the Road Haulage Association (RHA). It’s welcomed Scottish Government plans to scrap the Tay and Forth Bridge (image) levies. RHA boss Phil Flanders believes it will “improve congestion and cut emissions”.

PERMIT costs for parking could soon be dictated by car emissions. The move is being debated in Islington, north London. It says gas-guzzling 4x4s should pay the most. The council has issued a
referendum to all 127,000 residents.

CAR child seat owners are being warned against four models after they failed crash tests by consumer watchdog Which?. It suggested motorists don’t buy the Recaro Start, Little Shield Combi 123, Chicco Max 3-S and Mamas & Papas Pro-Tour.

PLANS to add VAT to the MoT fee are being contested by the Retail Motor Industry Federation (RMIF). It says the added cost would remove savings made by its own proposal to extend a vehicle’s first check-up date from three to four years.
