It's only just been launched, but Volvo is already offering discounts on the V70 and XC70. In an attempt to sway customers, the Swedish firm is selling hi-tech optional equipment at bargain prices.

Choose the RTI sat-nav system, and you’ll pay £850, compared to the normal price of £1,850. On top of this, you can specify the Dynaudio Premium Audio set-up for £300, which represents a £700 saving.


MOTORISTS stopped for speeding may soon be forced to give a DNA sample. Under new powers, police could demand to take biometric data for even minor driving offences such as not wearing a seatbelt.

These have been proposed as part of the Government’s plans to cut crime – although at present, they are only at the consultation stage. Ministers claim a decision is likely to be made next year.

HOLIDAYS abroad are miles better – that’s according to car hire specialist National. The rental company has discovered that 42 per cent of UK drivers intend to cover more than 500 miles on foreign soil this year.

It also found that around two-thirds of motorists on vacation expect to get lost, while half are worried about encountering confusing or unclear road signs.
