French manufacturer Peugeot is considering launching a new ultra-low-cost car to its line-up – and it’s likely to appear in UK showrooms later this year.
Described as a premium model for emerging markets, the newcomer is expected to cost around £6,000. It will sit on an existing Peugeot platform, and use engines from elsewhere in the range.
And when quizzed about whether Peugeot was likely to replace its flagship 607 executive car, a spokesman said: “It may not be a large saloon” – hinting that an SUV could be built instead.
