Having achieved a high rating from Euro NCAP for the Kuga, Ford is hoping to score points with drivers – by introducing new adjustable pedals on its cars.
The £100 option is an evolution of the US system and lets owners of manual and auto Focus and C-MAXmodels move the pedals up to 55mm closer to the seat to boost comfort at the flick of a switch.
At the same time, Ford is also launching a green ECOnetic version of the Mondeo. The car gets subtle changes to boost its eco credentials. It has been lowered, the front bumper skirt and rocker claddings updated and a rear spoiler added to improve aerodynamics. The five-door’s 123bhp 1.8-litre TDCi diesel gives 0-62mph in 10.4 seconds. Yet it returns 53.3mpg and emits only 139g/km of CO2. Prices start at £18,455 when it goes on sale in July.
