There's been a shake-up at Citroen. Its C2 city car and C3 supermini line-ups are being updated – and both benefit from a sportier look, more equipment and new body colours across the board.

A sporty new grille and front bumper have been added to the entire C2 range, while the number of trim levels has been reduced. Buyers can now choose from Vibe, Rhythm, VTR and VTS models. The flagship VTS diesel returns an impressive 64.2mpg and has a new exhaust filter that reduces particle emissions. Fuel-saving stop-start technology is now available on the Rhythm, too.

A more powerful 92bhp 1.6-litre HDi oil-burner is introduced on the Rhythm version of the bigger C3, and it emits 118g/km of CO2.

Completing the fresh supermini line-up are Vibe and Exclusive trims, and both have a host of interior upgrades, ranging from a full-size electric glass sunroof to new cloth trim. The soft-top C3 Pluriel also gets a mild makeover. The fresh line-up comprises Code and Cote d’Azur variants, both with more kit as standard, and the latter features a new 70bhp 1.4-litre HDi diesel.

All models go on sale later in the summer, with prices starting from £8,795 for the C2, £9,695 for the C3 and £13,295 for the C3 Pluriel.
