The world’s best-known satellite navigation system could soon be linking up with the coolest must-have mobile phone.
Dutch firm TomTom has revealed it is working on software that will run on Apple’s second-generation iPhone 3G (above). The TomTom system would be in addition to the GPS mapping feature that’s standard on the iPhone.
It allows users to pinpoint their location via satellites, mobile phone masts and even Wi-Fi hotspots. They can then get directions and plot their progress along the route.
The iPhone goes on sale in July, while TomTom’s set-up will appear at a later date.
