Comfortable children travel quieter. But keeping a growing family in car seats can be an expensive business.
Although adjustable child seats are widely available, they are often as bulky as they are costly. The latest product from Sunshine Kids aims to get round these problems.
The Monterey is rated for children over 15kg – about four years old. It uses a clever arrangement for easy fitting, and while it’s quite large, it’s reasonably light. Installing it in our Ford S-MAX test car was a breeze. It’s held securely in place by the seatbelt, which tucks behind the seat fabric for comfort – our young
tester had no complaints.
The seat’s integrated cup-holders seemed a good idea at first, but in practice we would have preferred a storage pouch. Still, once it has been taken out of the car, the chair can quickly be dismantled. The only trouble is, you will need somewhere clean and dry to store it – as the maker doesn’t provide a protective bag.
