Citroen had spectators falling over each other to look at the glamorous but green line-up on its motorshow stand - and this year it arrived with no less than five new UK show debuts!
The star on centre stage was undoubtedly the award-winning ecologically designed C-Cactus concept car. Looking ultra-futuristic with its dazzling white plastic body, the bold design had spectators drooling at the space-age interior.
Citroen says the car is designed to be minimalist, and it's not joking – it’s got no windows and no dashboard!
But stripping out the car means it weighs in at a feather light 900kg, and combined with its hybrid powertrain, the car produces just 79g/km of Co2!
Stealing some of the limelight was a jazzed-up show-version of Citroen's first 4x4, the C-Crosser. Painted in a marine green with surfer graphics along the side, the car was hard to miss. And when you add to that the 1.2 million part lighting system, the 15-inch TV and Nintendo Wii in the back, it was irresistible to showgoers!
Another UK show first was an off-road styled version of the Berlingo Multispace small MPV. Called the XTR, the car looks ready to tackle anything with its raised ride, plastic kick plates and SUV-style roof rails. The
French maker was also busy stamping out its green credentials by featuring a selection of cars from its ‘LCV Airdream’ green brand - all of which produce less than 120g/km of CO2.
Other first-to-be-seens at a UK show were the new Citroen C5 Tourer and C5 saloon, and a facelifted version of the new look C2 supermini.
