What do you do if you’re unhappy with the look of your favourite sports car? Design your own.
That’s exactly what US-based Corvette lover Christian Cyrulewski did. And the result is this: the C3R. Cyrulewski isn’t a fan of the styling of the latest C6 model, so he went back in time for inspiration – and created a new look based around the 1963 Corvette Stingray.
As you can see, the retro supercar gets the same curvy front wings, neat chrome bumper strip and slatted air intakes as the Sixties Stingray, along with a vivid yellow and black paint scheme and gill-like side air vents. The C3R only exists as a computer-generated illustration for now, but Cyrulewski plans to build a one-off model, which he will display at the Woodward Dream Cruise custom car show in Michigan next year.
If there’s enough interest, he could offer the bodykit as an aftermarket extra. In keeping with Corvettes of old, he would also offer a 427 cubic inch (7.0-litre) V8, complete with side-exit exhausts, in place of the C6’s 6.2-litre V8.
