Nissan's Juke is out of the box! Just last week the Japanese manufacturer released a first official teaser shot of its all-new baby Qashqai, and at the same time revealed its name - 'Juke'. And now, using that image as a guide, we have the most accurate pictures yet of the firm's all-new crossover.
With the mould-breaking Qashqai, cut-price GT-R and now this compact SUV - designed to steal sales from traditional family hatchbacks - Nissan is fast earning a reputation for offering interesting alternatives to established models in the market. And judging by our exclusive images, the Juke's compact footprint and Tonka-toy looks mean it has every chance of mirroring the Qashqai's incredible showroom success.
Slotting in between the Note and Qashqai, the Juke will expand Nissan's broad range even further. And when it goes on sale in October, it should provide a welcome boost for the UK car industry too - it will be built alongside the Qashqai and Qashqai+2 at Nissan's Sunderland plant.

Could be a winner especially if well thought out inside and versatile.
O...M...G that looks absolutely hideous!
I am going to be sick. This thing is by far the most awkward looking car I have ever seen. It beats the Pontiac Aztek hands down. Who on earth approved this monstrosity for production?
This is going to be a big hit for Nissan! If it looks anything like these images the designers have done well. I drove the QashCow recently and it was the first car of that type to change my hardline views on owning one (i.e. their stupid). After a day or so, I got it. The Qashcow was comfortable, nice to drive and in many ways clever. If this is a little less expensive Qashcow...It's a good mix
I have to agree with aplads : "Who on earth approved this monstrosity for production?"
This is a joke, not a car.
I think it is a mock up for a forthcoming Disney film.
This cannot be for real. It is a hideous thing. All wrong. I worry for the lads at the Sunderland/Washington plant if this is what their jobs depend on.
It's not April 1st...is it already?
Folks,
I agree the front end looks bad - like the Porsche Cayman, but the rear is very impressive. it is masculine and sporty. i wish we could get it in the states.
Just when you thought it was forgotten, HERE COMES THE NEW AMC PACER 2011!
Nissan's Joke...ahm...Juke belongs into a box (coffin, that is)!
Are they cup holders under the front grill, they should rename this car the Nissan Puke I would really be embarrassed to seen behind the wheel of this.
how can the front end look like the porshe caymen jerrysmiley.the caymen is nice looking, the juke (or joke) is ugly as sin and will only find a few driveways.bin it.
that has to be the ugliest front end of a car I've seen in a long time. Horrible name too.
This is just an airbrushed image, looks nothing like the real model
well I had many Nissans and my first impression was to puke after seeing this.. but in other hand, who am I to judge? I like cars like old Primera, 350Z and GT-R but if you really think target group here... I think every dad wouldn't disagree on its looks because childer could scream "let's go with that Disney car".
I hope they don't equipe it with a big sporty engine..
I'm rather tired of the whole trend for automakers to make crossovers and SUVs look like shoes. This one looks like a big Nike, with bulging headlights.
How ugly can you get? I'd feel a complete fool driving this stupid looking thing. When are car designers going to realise that being different doesn't have to mean ugly? It amazes me that designs like this ever get this far - but I suppose manufacturers see people like Chris Bangle making a good living from churning out ridiculously proportioned designs that look like they've been drawn by a 5 year old and think "what the hell?"!
Will you all please grow a brain and stop deciding on whether you like or dislike the car, based on this image. It is an artists impression only. It is only (mostly) accurate from the headlights upwards. For a start, where are the front fog lights?
You have the teaser image to compare with. The headlights are actually sunken into the bumper, not flush. The sidelights should be more forward on the wing. There are actually no creases in the bonnet and the front of the bonnet should curve down more at the front. Also the rear door does not have the handles in the panel, they are actually behind the window of the rear door, forward of the c-pillar. How can you decide on the looks of this car, when the artists impression is wrong regarding details which can be seen on the official teaser from Nissan? All the artist has done is shrink a Qashqai and tried to make some details from the teaser fit!
To briansboy - Unfortunately, you are judging the artist's impression which is from a different angle to the teaser shot. Taking account of that, the artist's impression looks horribly similar to the teaser shot.
Sadly, unless the real thing looks quite different, we are going to have to avert our eyes, or point and laugh, whenever one of these things passes us in the street - if anyone is mad enough to be seen driving one!
I have been looking for ages to buy a small 4WD car, nobody makes them. I usually drive alone when I am off road so I don’t need a big family shed like the rest. I would buy one today !
Ladies and Gentlemen, Tonka toys are on the re-design.
My God! What a design disaster!
What was Nissan thinking?
Boys of Nissan this is not a concept, its a mainstream model.
Forget these type of cars.
The next Nissan I will buy is a Ford Mondeo rival. Not a Primera, that was a disaster and a huge design flaw.
That will be miles off because judging by this look of this 'Juke' it will be a long time until Nissan gets there styling right.
There are only 3 models that look right.
The Qashqai, 370Z and GT-R.
We know that Nissan builds good, reliable cars. I'd wish they pay more attention to the styling.
Marketing cars is not just based on history and character, its perception too. I'm not bold over by this new design and I believe many people agree with me. Four-wheeled drive or not, there's no point. It's a disappointment none the least. Same as the current Micra.
If it wasn't for Renault partnering them, they will lose.
Artist impression or not, I'd already seen several pictures of this forthcoming model elsewhere and all of them look ridiculous. I just find it such a disappointment that so many new cars either look bland or ridiculously ugly. Maybe that's why so many retro-designs do well like the Mini or Fiat 500. Hardly speaks volumes for modern car design does it?
I have t agree. Artist's impression or not, it's consistent with what we know so far. That upturned front makes it look like a DUKW amphibious vehicle, which never won a beauty contest, to my knowledge.
this model is expected to turn over a volume 80,000 units from the first year of production, but has been put back until october 2010. it was expected in the early months of 2010 but the indian plant is not ready to take over the production of the micra model. i personally think it will be a success for the nissan plant in sunderland.
Can't see where it could go without ruining it.........
Sorry guys, that is just plain frightening from the front. It suggests to me that the Qashqai which was a surprise hit in the UK was actually a fluke.
This illustration is incorrect. The actual car will have 2 door handles for drive and passenger in its usual place while rear occupants will have access the rear with door handles that are near the roof line.

Saludos......
the model that is illustrated is a qashqai that has been modified by some sort of software, the juke is nothing like this although the front has simularities to the juke the rear end is nothing like the production model, the rear wheel arches are much like the concept model and there are lots of little details that are different to the illustrated picture. the juke will be unveiled at the geneva motor show on wed 10th feb 2010. good job to the person who made this picture but got it tottally wrong. i have seen the real model and it will be a smash hit for the sunderland plant, just like its older brother the qashqai.

your comments toward the micra are ill informed, as nissan are turning over production of the micra to the india plant in october the sunderland plant have just received a further 18,000 orders for the micra model this month (feb 2010) production of this model is still going well and for the qashqai it's still going through the roof with the sunderland plant putting on a third shift to provide for the demand. the production line is moving 24/7
I had one of the last model Primeras and loved it! When Nissan did away with the Primera and brought in the Qashqai I found there was nothing in the Nissan range of any interest for me - seemed to be almost exclusively 4x4 types. This would not tempt me back! First impression is it looks like a Qashqai on steroids!
And streets ahead in style and excitement than poor BMWs coming new plastic Kit Kar Mini Countryman built in Austria by Magna with eastern components etc!
This will be a great seller to the younger customer targets groups and with super price value - when can we oder one?
Its great!
Well done Nissan for at least being a little different in design.
I think this car grows on you and you should be praised for the move away from bog standard, every car looks the same.
If the car performs well and is nice internally and is priced correctly then I think they could have a hit on their hands.
Very well done. Unique and distinct shape, small size, all terrain vehicle and if that goes along the Nissan traditional reliability a new winner is here.
I will definately look into buying the top of the range model with the 190 hp engine, 4x4 wheel traction and CVT transmission.
The jokes have started coming already. Nissan Joke, Nissan Puke etc. Wait til it hits the roads! Although, it will sell well. What are the dimensions? It will probably be tiny.
Not bad
It didn't turn out as bad as I expected it to. In fact it's not bad looking at all.
