McLaren’s new MP4-12C supercar may not be ready to roll quite yet, but that hasn’t stopped it being prepared for racing – virtually!
A web artist has created these photoshopped visions of what the Ferrari challenger would look like if it reached the track.
Inspiration comes from the MP4-12C’s granddaddy, the mighty McLaren F1, which was developed into the famous competition-spec GTR.
To give it a dose of nostalgia the renderings have been finished in all the classic race colours – from Malboro to Gulf – that the F1 wore. There’s even a grey unliveried look designed to ape a test car.
The MP4-12C that provides the basis for the designs arrives in road form in 2011. The carbon fibre body is wrapped around a 3.8-litre V8 with 600bhp on tap. Unfortunately these racing MP4s from graphic designer Jon Sibal are not official and a competition programme has not yet been announced.
