At long last it's time to meet the new Range Rover in the flesh! 2010 marks Range Rover's 40th anniversary, and no celebrations would be complete without a sneak peak at what the future holds for the iconic British brand.
A select group of journalists and celebrities will be the first to lay eyes on a full production version of the LRX, called the Evoque, this Thursday evening, at an event held in partnership with VOGUE magazine at Kensington Palace in London.
This new vehicle will be the 'greenest' Range Rover ever produced – it is smaller, lighter and more fuel efficient than any product to wear the iconic badge. What's more it will be offered in 160 markets worldwide and be built right here in the UK - creating a significant number of new jobs.
Follow the timeline below to see how anticipation for the most radical Range Rover yet has built steadily over the last two years.

Watched the press soft launch event this morning.....the car lived up to every expectation - thank God they've kept the spirit of the 2008 Concept. But who was the oaf presenter.....if he represents Range Rover then I'm off to Kia. And when they announce that they'd hired Victoria Stick Insect, I thought, no boys, game's up. Really awful common call. No wonder the product guys in car companies despise their marketers so much.
Well its a fine looking and eye-catching SUV for sure, sort of a posh(er) KuGa... With certainly much improved environmental specifications and considerations than some of its sister models, so maybe the SUV equivalent of a Prius now?
I think about 30K is about right for the base version with 2wd, however the name Evoque seems somewhat wrong for this type of car?? (More Aston or Lotus)
Being built in Halewood, Scouse Rover probably wont do and Sloane Ranger would be apt but a marketing faux pas too...
No Range Rover need to give this car a less baroque name and more of a rough-boys toy name...
How About Something like a Range Rover Ultra? or maybe Range Rover Urban-Strike??
I like it! ;0)
Land Rover have lost the plot! Their vehicles used to be supreme examples of form following function. Attractive with excellent utility. This thing is 'kin' ugly! An example of form before function to the point I can't see a viable use for it except showing one's complete lack of good sense. At this point I don't see me continuing to buy Land Rovers. They don't make sense anymore. You want a better name for it. How about Squashed!
I have had Range Rover with its full disrilaibility, expensive parts etc. However, I used to be proud of having one!...Good for the new KIA Sorento!...Can someone tell me the relations with Victoria and RR??? British passport? well the RR lost it already....Feel peety....
New Range Rover Evoque
Victoria Beckham as new assistant design consultant?...who's idea was that??!!
