Audi builds smallest electric car yet

Audi’s smallest e-tron electric car can hit 19mph, but sadly it’s just for kids.

Audi is toying with its smallest electric car yet. The firm is set to exhibit at February’s 62nd International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, and to mark the event, Audi will unveil the electric Auto Union Type C e-tron study.

The 1:2 scale electric e-tron is based on the £10,000 limited-edition pedal car model which is sold through Audi dealers. The body of the one-off hand-finished car is made of aluminum and carbon-look material and is suitable for children and adults of up to 1.80-metres (5’11”) in height.

The electric motor is powered by a lithium-ion battery, and drives the rear wheels. The 1.5bhp motor has an output of 40Nm, with 60Nm available in short bursts, allowing the ride-on car to hit 19mph.

The study is also equipped with a reverse gear and car can travel for up to 15.5 miles. A flat battery can be charged from a household plug in two hours.
