Little-known Taiwanese manufacturer LUXGEN has unveiled a groundbreaking new plug-in saloon. With an impressive claimed range of 249 miles per charge – way over twice as far as a Nissan Leaf and Mitsubishi i-MiEV will travel – and with much more power than both of them combined, the Neora is an enticing proposition.
LUXGEN says that the Neora’s electric induction motor produces 241bhp, which is enough to whisk the 1600kg saloon to 62mph in 6.5 seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph, thanks to its aerodynamic outline. The company claims that the front wheel drive Neora’s 48kWh lithium ion batteries can be 80 percent recharged within one hour.
The interior is packed with technology including a heads up display, a LED screen for rear passengers and another nine inch screen on the dash for navigation functions and communication with other vehicles. The Neora’s centre console uses recycled wood, which is free from processing and dyeing.
LUXGEN has hinted that the concept will become a reality, but not whether it will make it to the UK.

We'll see when it arrives.
No doubt live on the same planet as "auto expresse says it could look like this"
"249 miles per charge" - presumably a (very precise) conversion of 400kms. Wouldn't it have been better to say "approximately 250 miles"
This is the sort of spec that the electric car needs.
The battery size sounds right as does the motor but the weight claim is low.
If it is anything near correct AND they manufacture it in the UK, I;ll welcomre it with a cheque book!
This type of development along with the Renault at the other end of the scale is what makes buying a Nissan Leaf a true disaster.
However, if electric cars become established, just how long can any government continue to loose billions of pounds in tax revenue? Fuel tax powers a significant part of our economy and the cash will have to be found from somewhere..........expect big increases in Road Fund Licenses? Much more expensive electricity?
Who knows.....as klajd323 says..'we'll see'!!
I don't believe the claims for this vehicle can be met with current battery technology, no pun intended.
And don't forget the range wil be nearer 125 miles/full charge driven normally.
The Luxgen is brilliant, from every aspect. That will shake
the sheikhs! Bring it on!
Rover 75
Its about time manufacturers came up with a design like this to tempt people to buy electric cars. The latest on the market just look like Noddy cars, or cars from a cartoon.
This is more desirable
I agree with the other comments here. It does sound rather optimistic with current battery technology. A quick calculation of energy that can be store with these batteries hints at something like half the range. Are you sure!! More marketing than real world. If it is correct then the argument for electric vehicles is at least half won. Of course you still need to generate the energy. Until Fusion power comes on stream we still have the pollution problems. As for the Climate Change scaremongers. I don't buy any of it. A more sophisticated and larger con has yet to be thought up. A lot of peoples careers are made on the back of this rubbish. The point is , oil is used as an international currency and power. It pays to keep it going otherwise the balance of world power would shift . I'm sure we have had alternatives for a long while now. Incentive is the only thing that will bring these new technologies into being. Lots of people have seen , photographed and video'd the craft that can move from 0 to silly speads in the blink of an eye and make right angled turns almost instantaneous. I've seen it . No noise either. It's here already. Governments need to come clean. Disclosure please so we can all get on with the next giant leap to a better future without pocket breaking fuel tax and at last unlimited clean energy.
But at what cost?
