As well as the grille, other external changes include new clear tail-light lenses and a revised rear bumper, featuring a diffuser-style undertray.
The newcomer will be available with four engines, but only the 163bhp 1.8T is carried over from the current car. New to the range are the 197bhp 2.0-litre turbo and 255bhp 3.2-litre V6 FSI petrol units, plus the refined 233bhp 3.0 TDI oil-burner from the A6.
There will also be a choice of transmissions. Five and six-speed manual gearboxes are offered, plus CVT and conventional six-speed autos, while the firm's quattro four-wheel-drive system is optional across the range.
The Cabrio's suspension has been overhauled for sportier handling, and borrows many components from the A6 and high-performance S4. Safety levels have been enhanced, too, with uprated brakes and Audi's latest ESP traction and stability control.
Inside, the cabin features updated materials, new aluminium door sills and cabin inlays. All models get an electrically powered folding fabric roof and automatic air-con as standard.
The new Audi A4 Cabriolet will be available to order from November, with first deliveries slated for early next year. A slight price rise is expected, with the entry-level 1.8T likely to start from around £25,500.
