A 4MATIC four-wheel-drive set-up and set of low-range gears will ensure that customers won't get stuck in the mud. There's also downhill speed regulation (DSR) and hill-start assist. Clever AIRMATIC suspension allows the driver to increase the G-Class's ride height in extreme conditions, and a pair of differential locks should also help keep things moving.
Expect a broad range of petrol and diesel engines, including the firm's existing 224bhp V6 CDI and a new 306bhp V8 oil-burner. The off-roader will make its debut at January's Detroit Motor Show, and will hit UK showrooms late next year. Prices have yet to be announced, but should start from £40,000.
