New S6 blasts in with a perfect 10...

The Roadjet's V6 may offer 300bhp, but this Audi (image) eclipses its power output by a long way - it's the new S6. Also revealed at the Detroit expo, the car features the same V10 as the firm's S8 super saloon.

While power is slightly down in the S6, the 5.2-litre still delivers 420bhp and 540Nm of torque. With a six-speed tiptronic auto gearbox, it covers 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds and has a 155mph top speed. Huge 385mm front brake discs and 335mm rears ensure the car stops as well as it goes, while superb grip and agile handling should be assured, too, thanks to quattro 4WD and stiffened, lowered suspension.

Inside, leather and Alcantara trim covers all five seats, while aluminium is used for the steering wheel-mounted paddleshifters and gearlever. There's also a 10-speaker CD changer and Bluetooth capability.

On the outside, the newcomer gets 19-inch alloys, plus a subtle bodykit comprising flared wheelarches, a chrome-edged grille and numerous air intakes. Quad exhausts complete the look at the rear. The S6 is available in saloon and Avant form, and prices will start at £52,000 when sales begin in late summer.
