Honda isn’t the only manufacturer planning to unleash a new supermini-MPV – Renault is, too. This spy picture, taken in France, reveals that the current Modus is being revised.
The prototype in our photograph is heavily disguised, but underneath the camouflage lies a face that borrows much of its inspiration from the latest-generation Clio.
That means even larger headlights and neat air intakes either side of the bold Renault badge. The lower grille has also received some treatment, and now gets a distinctive curved shape and integral spotlights. At the rear, new tail-lamps and a reprofiled bumper complete the styling changes.
Inside, the revamped interior will feature the same classy plastics as in the Clio, in addition to better equipment levels and improved build quality. The Modus’s clever sliding rear bench will be carried over unchanged.
The engine line-up will also be updated, with the arrival of Renault’s new 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit. After making its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the fresh Modus will go on sale here next summer.
