Ferrari trailed Mercedes by just a few points in last year’s constructors’ standings – largely thanks to Fernando Alonso’s performances in a clearly uncompetitive car – and will hope to give him machinery worthy of his talent in 2014. But the main interest will be the return of 2007 champ Kimi Raikkonen.

While the Finn has been inconsistent in the past, sources suggest he’s been more proactive this time round. Some questioned Alonso’s motivation last season, although his intelligent racecraft should serve him well amid the uncertainty of 2014’s new engine rules.

Our verdict: Ferrari’s season will be all about the Alonso-Raikkonen rivalry. If the car is competitive, they could end up taking points off one another in the title chase.
