The supermini-MPV has started to slide down the pecking order. Performance, handling and ease of driving were all areas in which Meriva owners scored their car badly. That said, you’re still very happy with practicality. And 84 per cent said their car had lived up to expectations

MANUFACTURER VERDICT

A shocking performance. Vauxhalls are reasonably practical and frugal, but little else recommends them. Can the firm expect continuing strong sales if this is how drivers rate it?
