Could do better. Owner BMW can take some comfort in a leap of eight places, but MINI ownership is still a love/hate affair. In the minus column are build quality – you say it’s average – a stiff ride and its lack of space. On the plus side, you adore the MINI’s sharp steering and great agility. Maybe the redesigned MINI launched last year will score better in 2009.

Yes, MINI has risen one place, but this is still a poor performance. The cars are great to drive, but you hate the seats, lack of space and a stiff ride. Maybe the all-new car will turn things around.
