Slipping seven places won’t please VW, but on the whole owners are happy with their Golfs. With a great hot hatch in the GTI, not to mention punchy diesels, it’s no surprise that performance comes in for praise. Cost cutting of interior materials has been noted, though, with average results for build quality and reliability.
