Head-line spec's of:
"New Dynamic Roll Control System"
"All Encompassing Traction Control"
"Electro-Power Steering"
Looks like the only NEW mechanical part is the "Limited-Slip Diff."
I just hope that all the NEW "On-Board" electronics will hold up long term,ie after 20 plus years?!
993 Turbo Owner
Longer, wider, noisier and pricier but with a sexy new cabin and vague electro mechanical steering
for sports purists, I think the Cayman is an even better proposition now
First of all the whole chassis is new. Old one was not competetive against...anything anymore. Hats off for them longening the wheelbase for that.
Still my gripe with the new car is the look, nose lights etc look cheap. Worse the cabin looks overly simplicistic, door panels even more cheap and worse of all is the depth of the dash. This is indeed a sportscar not a golf or an MPV or something. I wouldn't buy it just for that! I hate driving fast and having to adjust to something like that.
By the way the gaps on the center console don't do match for the perceptive quality I hope it doesn't rattle or something.
If anyone was ever going to criticise Porsche for messing with a winning formula it would be with this latest 911. To overhaul the steering and lengthen the wheelbase in such an extreme way was a big risk, but in our eyes, it's one that paid off. There's still more feel through the steering than in a lot of other sports cars, and that longer wheelbase has really done wonders to improve the ride comfort. In nearly every area the 991 is a better car than the 997, and it's going to prove incredibly difficult to beat.
