It's nearly six metres long and weighs a staggering 2,497kg, but with 305bhp from its 5.6-litre V8 engine, it's certainly not slow. On open roads in the US its refinement is no doubt a pleasure, but on the congested highways of Britain, you'll need a steady hand to prevent it wandering from lane to lane. Parking can also be a problem - it's simply too wide for most UK spaces.
But there's still an absurd appeal to the Titan. Climbing behind the wheel and starting the engine is an event in itself, and once you get accustomed to its left-hand-drive cabin, motorway work is a real pleasure. The combination of the lazy engine, high-up driving position and comfortable seats means that the miles melt away in front of you. It should also be a fair performer off-road, too, thanks to its switchable all-wheel-drive system.
However, there's one thing about the Titan that's far from gargantuan. Basic editions in the US are priced from ,500 - an unbelievably cheap £12,800 at the current exchange rate. Rival truck manufacturers Ford and GM should be quaking in their boots.
