55-reg Diesel, Owner for 3 to 5 years
Very annoying designed in faults EG. cannot change lightbulbs yourself (Dealer only supply and fitting requires major strip down )Averagebill for replacing a front sidelight £150.00, and bulbs last less than 1 year
Brakes corrode rapidly and require complete replacement within 3 years
Electronics sensitive to temperature change which result in faults showing which are not there and functions such as ESP,ABS, Cruise Control disableing themselves until computer is rebooted.
The car would be excellent if these manufacturer based problems were addressed and Citroen cannot deny they excist as there is a dedicated website to the C5 problems. the latest C5 is reported to be no better.

Lousy build quality sorted during customer ownership. Awful main dealer service, bits left off, poor work leading to other failures. Seats excruciatingly uncomfortable negate excellent ride. Rubbish headlights and you have to remove the bumper to change bulbs.
But for all that pretty good since the manufacturer 3 yr warranty ran out and servicing carried out by an independent.
Have only hung on to it to make sense of the initial eye-watering depreciation.

Apparently everything on this car is controlled "remotely" by some electronic transfer system. The accelerator just stops working and the car will only run in"tick-over" mode. After stopping and waiting for 15 - 30 minutes it will start and then run all-day perfectly. Neither the garage nor a supposed elecronic expert can cure the fault. I took the car back yet again yesterday.

i had the diesel particle filter replaced cause the car kept going into limp home mode. i had this done done at a cost of £600+ vat only for problem to occur again 1000 miles later.was then told it was swirl valve that was at fault so i am now thinking that maybe the diesel particle filter wasnt faulty after all yet another main dealer letting down a customer.tut tut Citroen

It's excellent although it's beginning to look a bit tired - bashes and scrapes on the bodywork, interior getting a bit worn. A few niggling electrical problems but overall it's the best car I've ever owned. Engine is smooth and responsive, as is the ride, and has been 100% reliable. Overall I think the C5 is an excellent buy.

Excellent car for comfort and refinement once you get used to the slightly different driving style compared with Mondeos etc. It is a very relaxing way to travel and definitely reduces your likelyhood of being affected by road rage! In addition I have been very impressed with the reliability, build quality and dealer service.

The new C5 is quiet, comfortable, relex and good looking inside and outside. The local dealer service isn't good though. Compares to my previous VW, it is about the same build quality and average the same numbers of faults.

VERY RELIABLE,FAIR FUEL COMSUMPTION, VERY CONFORTABLE, STEERING NOT VERY DIRECT, GOOD SUSPENTION, VERY GOOD HEATING/COOLING SYSTEM AND GOOD LIGHTS, A BIT EXPENSIVE ON ROAD TAX. OVERALL I WOULD BUY THE SAME MODEL AGAIN.

Almost as good as previous model but has lost some of that models finesse. (Previous was C5 2.2 diesel) This one is 2 litre diesel which goes to prove you can't get something for nothing!!

The advertising suggested it was built to German standardsbut it is not. However, the car can be described as very comfortable with adequate performance and few vices

it's ok but is too technical.
Even the main dealer cannot sort out auto air intake cut off. Very annoying behind smell vehicles such as mopeds and taxis.
