Ferrari has announced a new special edition car to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its first official sale in the US.
Details are pretty sketchy at the moment, with Ferrari keeping the design, specification and price closely under wraps, but we do know only 10 will be built, and the official reveal will take place on 12 October in Los Angeles.
The event, called ‘Race Through The Decades 1954-2014’, is set to feature 60 historic Ferraris and will run throughout the day on Beverly Hills’ Rodeo Drive.
“To celebrate Ferrari’s 60th year in the USA, we have developed a special car of which just 10 examples will be built, in addition to planning a major event in Los Angeles to bring together all our American clients and collectors, and a charity initiative,” confirmed Ferrari’s outgoing chairman, Luca di Montezemolo.
The news coincides with Ferrari’s best ever start to a year, which has seen a sizeable increase in the Italian marque’s revenue and trading profit, despite having made fewer cars than in 2013. Revenue was up 14.5 percent to €1,350million, while trading profits hit €185million, up 5.2 percent.
There’ll also be further cause to celebrate in America next month, as the USA remains Ferrari’s largest worldwide market – 1,062 cars were delivered over the first six months of 2014, up 13 percent on the year before.
