David Brown Automotive reveals upcoming model based on V8-powered Jaguar XKR

New British sportscar brand David Brown Automotive has announced the first details of its upcoming debut model. The car - codenamed Judi - uses a tweaked version of the Jaguar XKR's chassis and engine, but features an exterior that's completely bespoke.

The Coventry-based manufacturer has yet to reveal its forthcoming model in full, but it is promising to ‘refresh the classic British sports car, for the 21st Century.’

However, the firm has said that its new car will be powered by the same 503bhp 5.0-litre supercharged V8 found in the current Jaguar XKR. The platform from the XKR will also be adopted, although it will be modified specifically for the new model.

Along with the first technical details of the car, David Brown Automotive also released several teaser images, which preview the car's retro-inspired design. The front end appears to adopt styling cues from classic models like the Jaguar E-Type and Aston Martin DB5, with a narrow chrome grille and raked back oval headlamps.

At the rear, the model will also feature a coupe-like roofline and angular panels. The brand also confirmed traditional craftsmanship will be used in the construction process and only the highest quality materials will be used.

A full reveal has been scheduled for the April 17 at the Top Marques Show in Monaco. Production is expected to be in very limited numbers.

Must be a DB5 evocation?

So it's going to be a Jag, dressed up like an Aston, with a bit of E-Type chucked in for good measure? For what this is likely to cost I think id rather just have an XK-R............
