Bosses at Dodge have announced prices for the new Avenger saloon and Nitro SUV

The Ford Mondeo-rivalling Avenger starts in entry-level SE trim and comes with either 2.0-litre petrol or 2.0-litre diesel power, costing £14,995 and £15,995 respectively. Choosing SXT spec adds £2,000 to the price tag, while the range-topper is the 2.4-litre petrol SXT fitted with an automatic gearbox for £17,995. The saloon goes on sale in September.

The Nitro hits UK showrooms two months earlier in July. Prices start at £18,990 for the 2.8-litre diesel SE, rising to £23,490 for the oil-burner in SXT trim with an auto box. For the same price, there's a 3.7-litre petrol, also with an automatic.
