Watch out Mondeo – Suzuki’s new family car is coming. Our spies have grabbed pictures of the new model, out testing at the Nurburgring circuit in Germany for the first time.

Called the Kizashi, it was initially revealed at the New York Motor Show earlier this year in the form of a dramatic concept car. And as you can see from the lack of disguise on this prototype, the production version will keep most of the concept’s original styling details.

The roofline is not quite as steeply raked and some of the bold air intakes from the concept have gone too, but the result is still a handsome machine that has shades of Vauxhall’s sleek Insignia from some angles, particulary around the tail.

Engine details are still unconfirmed but the Kizashi will be available with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder petrol unit for the entry-level model, as well as a range of diesels. There are also rumours that a flagship version will get four-wheel drive and a 300bhp 3.6-litre V6.

The Kizashi is likely to be manufactured in Suzuki’s new Indian manufacturing plant in Delhi before being shipped around the world.
