Caterham

By Jack Rix

14th November 2008

Ever fancied yourself as the next Colin Chapman? Here’s your chance to follow in the footsteps of the design legend.

Caterham has launched a world first – its next car will be penned entirely online by... you! That’s right. Anybody can submit designs for elements of the new car, and the suggestions will be put to the vote to determine which stays.

Bosses promise the result will make full production and join the current line-up as early as 2011. Participation in the contest is free, and some lucky entrants will get the chance to test drive the final car. Piers Drake, founder of Project Splitwheel, which is behind the scheme, said: “Petrolheads dream of running their own sports car firm. For the first time, we are channelling that passion and energy into an exciting project with a real-world outcome.” Visit www.splitwheel.com for a chance to be a Caterham designer.
