LOW claim limits on extended warranties could leave drivers footing huge repair bills!

An Auto Express study found four aftermarket guarantees which could still leave the
policyholder with over £2,000 to pay when claiming for major parts failure.

We checked the claim limits on five basic policies from cover providers and compared these to average garage bills to replace and fit five parts on
a 2004 Volkswagen Passat 1.9 TDI.

Three policies had maximum payouts of less than £1,500 – not enough to cover four of the five items we checked.

Meanwhile, Click4Warranty’s £3,000 limit did not cover cylinder head failure. And Car2Cover’s maximum payout figure was equal to the value of the car – but in the case of our £6,000 Passat, it would take only two of the parts to go wrong before the firm would refuse to pay out any more.
