Check out Hyundai’s Geneva show star. This is the ix-onic – an environmentally minded SUV.

The newcomer gives us the clearest look yet at Hyundai’s plans for the future, and with its bold, aerodynamic, compact design, shows that the Korean manufacturer is keen to turn green.

From head-to-toe the ix-onic is a dramatic looking car and thanks to its wide stance, flared wheel-arches and 21-inch alloy wheels it is equally imposing.

Inside, there is eco-friendly natural wool carpet, while engineers have fitted the company’s Idle Stop and Go technology. This helps the 1.6-litre GDi turbocharged petrol powerplant deliver the efficiency of a supermini – the ix-onic promises impressive fuel economy and CO2 emissions of only 149g/km.
