The walls are tumbling! The first Chinese car brand ever to come to the UK market has cleared a major hurdle ahead of its planned launch next year, by signing up with a network of dealers.
Great Wall models will be sold by most of Daihatsu’s 90 franchises, and even some Subaru showrooms, early next year after the importer persuaded them the marque – well established in China – will be a hit.
The first car to arrive will be the new Phenom supermini, which Great Wall promises will come with a generous spec and a keen price to take on Korean rivals such as the Hyundai i20. Also expected is the Steed double-cab pick-up, as well as a third car, possibly the Cool Bear – a rival to Nissan’s Cube.
