The tyre smoke has barely settled on the Goodwood Festival of Speed, but already another important event in the Britsh motoring calendar is upon us! Salon Prive is renowned for bringing together the most desirable cars in the world in the swanky surroundings of the Hurlingham Club in Fulham, South London – and 2010 is set to be the most spectacular event to date.
Taking place from July 21 to 23, this year’s event has attracted a host new metal from some of the world’s most glamorous manufacturers. Bentley will be wheeling out its Mulsanne and the 621bhp Continental Supersports Convertible, Lexus is showing of its 200mph LFA and Rolls-Royce is returning to Salon Privé with the production version of its new Ghost, after previewing the car at last year’s event with the 200EX Concept. Audi, Aston Martin, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Maserati will also be showing off the latest additions to their ranges.
There will be no shortage of automotive oddities either. The Veritas RSIII will make a welcome return to the lawns of the Hurlingham club, while little-know French firm Atomik has promised to bring along two examples of its Fiat 500-based electric car. Capable of traveling from 0-62mph in under five seconds, it’s being heralded as the world’s first ‘all-electric city supercar’.
If you fancy rubbing shoulders with celebrity petrolheads such as Rod Stewart, Jay Kay and Jodie Kidd or helping the panel of judges including Vicki Butler-Henderson and Derek Bell decide which cars are the best in show, there are still a handful of tickets left. Priced at £150 each for either daytime or evening entry (the daytime tickets include an unlimited lobster and champagne lunch), tickets can be purchased at www.salonprivelondon.com.
