Former Honda proving ground located near Los Angeles, California up for sale.

It might need a lottery win of epic proportions, but Honda’s former proving ground in Cantil, California has been put up for sale. The ultimate petrolhead’s playground was used for car and motorbike testing, until Honda decided to pull out of the facility.

The site measures 4,255 acres, and includes a host of specially-designed tracks, including a 7.5-mile oval circuit and 4.5-mile handling track. The facilities are designed to replicate common North American public roads, dirt roads, gravel roads, motocross race tracks and natural desert terrain, and are all designed to test cars, motorbikes and quads to their limit.

The proving ground also includes secure perimeter fencing and man-made berms so you don’t upset the neighbours, and its own fuel tanks.

Located two hours from Los Angeles International Airport – which is a 12-hour flight from the UK – the site is being sold by CB Richard Ellis, which is recommending that the site be converted to a huge solar power plant. Shame.

Green racing?

Keep the track AND convert it to a solar farm - then use it for green racing (electric cars).

Turn it into a Motorsport University

Teach motorsport technology. Go green with solar panels, eco friendly, and a revenue stream from the sale of excess power to the local grid!

A lottery win of epic proportions??? Really!! Its basically 4200 acres of undeveloped land, a few buildings, tanks, and some tracks. If it was such a fantastic hot proposition as a test track, Honda would have well sold it by now, to another car maker.
So what IS the asking price then?? You must have heard AE.
Have Honda got an inflated idea of it, much like their cars?
