VW readying seven-seater SUV

Big SUV set for American market but could also come to the UK

VW readying seven-seater SUV

17th January 2011

It's seven up for VW! The German brand is planning to expand its line-up – with a large seven-seater SUV.

The newcomer would be a cheaper alternative to the Touareg, and aimed primarily at America, although VW’s US boss, Jonathan Browning, said it could come here. It would be built at the firm’s new plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee, alongside the US-spec Passat. The model would be central to VW’s plan to increase sales in the States from 256,830 last year to 800,000 by 2018.

What about other models for the US? Well, the Polo is said to be a possibility, but the Up! city car won’t come to the US and VW won’t compete in the pick-up market.

Bring it in TDI

If vw does bring it it will be in ten years...however if they manage to build it before the market trend shifts. Bring in it TDI!. For 7 passenger here in north america I'd love to see the micro bus concept come to fruition. I'd buy one especially in tdi and a camper that'd be Heaven. However I'd never buy a 7 passenger SUV (bad mpg) and I'm from north america.
