Subaru is hotting up its STI WRX range with more power and improved performance.

The WRX STI’s power plant now features a 20bhp improvement, totalling 320bhp from its 2.5 litre boxer engine. The tweaks by Subaru UK’s in-house team have also improved the mid-range toque figures; from 407 Nm at 4000 rpm to 450 Nm at 3400 rpm.

The added power means the WRX STI’s 0-62mph performance improves by three-tenths of a second, to 4.9 seconds.

What’s more, Subaru are making sure the WRX STI is entertaining for passengers as well as the driver too by throwing in a Pioneer sat nav with iPod connectivity and Bluetooth at no extra cost.

All STI’s come are kitted with symmetrical AWD, keyless entry and push button start, hill start assist, climate control, SI-Drive, leather Recaro seats, 18 inch alloy wheels, remote locking, satellite tracker and cruise control as standard.

The power pack and sat nav will be available on 4 and 5 door STI models purchased between 1st April and 30th June 2011 and retails at £32,995.

Get real!!.....

£33K for an Impreza is still way too much. Subaru need to get real and bring their prices down to a level that befits what they're offering. Haven't they heard there's a world wide recession on and UK austerity measures the like of which we have never seen in living memory, not to mention the ridiculous price of super unleaded.

the Impreza be quick but the interior is still seriously low rent. There's no reason why they can't use better quality materials and make it a nicer place to be. Comparable cars that are nearly as quick manage to be a bit cheaper and have much better interiors so if they want £33K to sound like good value they'd better sort it out.

Subaru aren't what they used to be and it's such a shame they've lost their way.

Wakey Wakey Scooby!!

It's all about exchange rates.

The Scooby is made in Japan. The Yen is strong against sterling. These factors make it very hard for Subaru to make money selling these cars in the UK.

It does make the £15k I paid in December for a 1400 mile WRX look like a bargain. Ok, it's a lot softer than it used to be but that suits me well nowadays. It still puts a smile on my face and gets me more respect from my son's pals than anything else would, so it's not all bad!
