Luxury brand Infiniti is hoping to raise its profile in the UK with plans for a bold new sports car – and it’s enlisting the help of Lotus to give it enthusiast appeal.
Auto Express has learned that the Nissan-owned firm will present the hot two-seater, which aims to rival the Audi TT and BMW Z4, at next year’s
Geneva Motor Show.
Slotting in below the next-generation G-Series Coupé, the compact newcomer is likely to use a classic front-engined, rear-drive layout to ensure it delivers plenty of fun on the road, and the Norfolk-based sports car maker is being brought in to help tune the chassis. As our pictures show, it has an aggressive look, which designers hope will improve Infiniti’s image.
The firm is also working on a pair of eco-friendly models. The first is a premium four-seater based on the electric Nissan Leaf, due in 2013, followed in 2015 by a hybrid designed to take on the Lexus CT 200h and Audi A3. The M35h introduces hybrid power to Infiniti’s executive saloon range this September.
